My Yoga Journey

My yoga journey started 10 years ago. I was introduced to it at my high school as one of the moms was a yoga teacher and kindly offered those who were interested some classes after school finished. It was just a handful of us who signed up and we really didn't know much about it. I remember it being super hard and at that time it was all about the postures for me rather than the vastness that yoga can be.

When I then went to university, the school offered free yoga classes once or twice a week, so I continued to go. I got a much better understanding of the asanas here but still didn't know anything about breathwork or meditation, it was still just a form of work-out.

Then I moved to London and started taking a core stretch class that was offered at the dance school I visited. This class took elements from yoga and greatly focused on the correct alignments of the body within postures and very importantly on how to stretch and get into these postures properly. I noticed that for years, I had compromised alignment for a deeper stretch and wasn't getting the full benefits of these movements. To my delight, the instructor of this class was also teaching yoga and she is the yogi that really got me into practising weekly with enjoyment and without judgment.

This is the time when I really learned about breathwork, meditation and everything that yoga can be aside from just asanas. Around this time, I really gained strength physically (of course) but more so mentally. And I found absolute joy in the practices and started playing with things I thought I would never be able to do, just because of the encouragement and safe space that was created.

Then Covid hit and we were all stuck inside and socially distanced for 2+ years. Gladly, I had about the space of a yoga mat and started a daily practice to get me through this. Always having toyed with the idea of longing to teach myself, it wasn't until the lockdowns that I told myself that when this is "over", I'd go and join a teacher training. And here we are :) with the most rewarding experience with the most wonderful people, I can now proudly say that I am able to share my passion with you. I look forward to practicing with you.

With every practice, we thank the teachers that came before us and go forth with grace, gratitude and growth.
